RIGHT TO LIFE IN VOTING ISSUES Pope Benedict XVI said in a speech March 30, 2006: "As far as the Catholic Church is concerned, the principal focus of her interventions in the public arena is the protection and promotion of the dignity of the person, and she is thereby consciously drawing particular attention to principles which are not negotiable. Among these is the protection of life in all its stages, from the first moment of conception until natural death." The "Non-negotiable" issue of the "Right to Life" means no citizen can in good conscience vote for any candidate who does not support the "Right to Life" of every innocent human being from conception to natural death. "Above all, the common outcry which is justly made on behalf of human rights—for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture--- is false and illusory if the RIGHT TO LIFE, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition of all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination." Living the Gospel of Life, U.S. Bishops 1998. Our Founding Fathers also acknowledged the Catholic and self-evident truth that all men (human beings) are created equal with the inalienable "Right to Life." Our greatest protection in the Constitution is the "Right to Life" in the 5th Amendment and the 14th Amendment by due process of law and equal protection. Elected candidates swear to uphold these first and essential rights for every innocent individual. Any candidate who does not publicly support the first and essential "Right to Life," does not have a commitment to uphold the Constitution and the inalienable "Right to Life," and is disqualified to serve in any public office. All voters have the civic duty to vote ONLY for candidates who will uphold the Constitution of the United States to protect the "Right to Life" of every innocent human being. A voter who believes in "equal justice for all" cannot support a political party or candidate who promotes the legal killing of innocent humans. Catholic voters have the additional moral duty to vote ONLY for candidates who will not support murder of innocent helpless individuals because our Catholic faith teaches us to love our neighbors and that what we do to the "least ones" we do to Jesus.
